Should price action traders avoid news events or trade them? What is the best approach?
Most price action traders avoid trading 30 minutes before and after major news. The volatility creates false signals and spreads widen. The strategy: wait for the dust to settle, then trade the new structure that emerges.
Post-news price action is often some of the clearest — the direction is established and you can trade structure breaks and retests with confidence. The first 5-15 minutes after news is noise; 30-60 minutes after is signal.
