How does the Fed rate decision affect USD pairs?

Every time there is a Fed meeting, prices go crazy. How should I trade around Fed announcements?

Wait for the initial spike to settle (30-60 mins post-announcement), then trade the new trend direction that emerges. The second move is usually more sustained.

Stay out of the market 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after the announcement. The volatility is not tradeable — it is a coin flip.
