What is a covered call strategy?

Best used when you have a neutral-to-slightly-bullish view on a stock you own long-term. It generates income in sideways markets but caps your upside. Not suitable for strongly bullish views.

Covered call: you own 100 shares + sell a call option against them. You collect premium income. If stock stays flat or rises modestly, you keep the premium. If it rises above the strike, your shares get called away.
