Silver Market Guide: Trading XAGUSD and the Gold/Silver Ratio

Silver is one of the most underappreciated trading instruments — and understanding it opens an entirely different set of opportunities. **What drives silver?** Silver is unique because it has BOTH monetary value AND significant industrial demand: - ~50% industrial use: solar panels, electronics, medical devices - ~30% jewelry and silverware - ~20% investment (coins, bars, ETFs) This dual nature means silver can decouple from gold during periods of strong industrial demand or economic expansion. **The Gold/Silver Ratio:** Currently ~80:1. Historical average: 55–60:1. At 80:1, silver is relatively cheap vs gold — historically, this ratio eventually reverts, meaning silver outperforms gold when it does. **Trading XAGUSD practically:** Silver is more volatile than gold (2–3× the % daily move). Avoid trading during Asian hours when spread widens. **Key levels on XAGUSD:** Resistance: $32 (current ATH area), $35, $50 (2011 ATH — major psychological) Support: $27, $25, $22 Do you trade silver alongside gold, or exclusively one or the other?
