Scalping Broker Selection: ECN vs Market Maker — Does It Matter?

If you're scalping, your broker choice is arguably as important as your strategy. **Market Maker brokers:** - Take the opposite side of your trade - Typically have wider spreads (2–4 pips on EUR/USD) - Requotes are common during fast moves - Some accused of "stop hunting" — widening spreads to hit retail stops during news **ECN/STP brokers:** - Pass your orders directly to liquidity providers - Spreads as low as 0.1–0.3 pips on EUR/USD (+ small commission) - No requotes — what you see is what you get - Better for scalping because execution is genuine **My honest view:** If you're scalping for 5–15 pips, trading with a 3-pip spread market maker is equivalent to starting every trade at -60% disadvantage versus an ECN with 0.3-pip spread. What broker do you use for scalping, and have you noticed a difference in execution quality?
