Revenge Trading: Have You Experienced It and How Did You Break the Cycle?

Revenge trading is taking impulsive trades after a loss in an attempt to "win it back." It's the single most common account destroyer in retail trading. Here's how it typically unfolds: 1. You take a loss on a valid setup (-1R) 2. You feel the need to "recover" the loss quickly 3. You take a trade without a clear setup, just to be in the market 4. This trade also loses, often larger than the first (-1.5R) 5. Now you're down -2.5R and the cycle continues What makes revenge trading so seductive: it disguises itself as "confidence" in your trading ability. It has occasionally worked — which reinforces the behavior. Breaking the cycle requires a concrete circuit breaker: mine is that after any loss, I'm required to walk away from my desk for 20 minutes before considering another trade. This physical break interrupts the emotional state. Have you experienced revenge trading? What's your personal circuit breaker — the specific thing that stops you from entering the cycle when you feel it starting?
