Index Day Trading Strategy: Using Premarket Structure for High-Probability Entries

Indices like the S&P 500 (ES futures) and Nasdaq (NQ) offer some of the cleanest premarket setups in trading. Here's how to use premarket structure effectively: **Setup Process:** 1. At 8:30 AM EST, mark the overnight high and low from the Globex session 2. Note the key levels: previous day close, weekly VWAP, month-to-date VWAP 3. Identify where the market opens relative to prior session **Execution:** - **Gap up through resistance:** Wait for a 5-minute close above overnight high, then enter long on first pullback. Stop: below prior day's close. Target: previous week's high. - **Gap down into support:** Wait for a bounce candle at the overnight low. Stop: 10 points below. Target: gap fill area. **Key rule:** Never buy the open blindly. The first 5 minutes are for observation only. Enter on the FIRST PULLBACK after direction is established. Stop Loss on ES futures: 10–15 points Take Profit: 25–40 points (1:2–1:3 R:R) Do you trade ES or NQ futures, or do you use ETFs (SPY, QQQ)?
