How do you handle taxes on trading profits in India?

I am making some profits now and am confused about the tax treatment. Is trading income taxed as capital gains or business income?

If you are a frequent intraday trader, SEBI classifies it as speculative business income — taxed as per your slab.

For F&O trading it is always non-speculative business income. You can deduct expenses like brokerage and software subscriptions.

Please consult a CA who specialises in trading taxation. The rules are specific and penalties for misclassification are high.
