Gold vs Silver: Which Do You Prefer to Trade and Why?

Both gold and silver are popular among commodity traders, but they behave quite differently. Gold is more expensive per unit (lower volatility in % terms), more influenced by safe haven and macro factors, and more predictable technically. Tighter spreads on most platforms. Silver is more volatile (often 2–3× the % move of gold), more driven by industrial demand (solar panels, electronics) alongside monetary demand, and tends to lag gold on the way up then outperform. The gold/silver ratio (currently around 80:1) is itself a useful indicator — when it's high, silver is historically cheap relative to gold and tends to outperform. My preference: Gold for swing trades, silver for short-term volatility plays. Which do you trade more, gold or silver? And what factors drive your setups on each?
