A pattern I notice every week: the NY "dead zone" between 12:00–1:00 PM EST and what happens after.
Between noon and 1 PM EST, the market goes quiet. London is closing. NY traders are at lunch. Volume drops and spreads widen.
This creates a compression in price — a small range that acts like a coiled spring.
At around 1:30–2:00 PM EST, NY afternoon buyers/sellers step back in, and the market often makes a decisive move out of this range — frequently in the direction the morning session was trending.
I set a price alert at the top and bottom of the 12–1 PM range every day and let it tell me when to look up.
Do you monitor this NY midday consolidation window? Have you noticed a similar pattern?
